Santa Paula AYSO is a volunteer-run organization. Coaches,
referees and administrators are all volunteers. Nationally over 220,000
parents, neighbors, relatives and friends lend their time and talents so that
each child gets a terrific AYSO experience. We depend on all of you to help
fill the hundreds of needed positions that allow our kids to enjoy each new
soccer season. Without the help of these countless individuals volunteering
their time, there simply is no AYSO Region 82.
AYSO’s volunteer foundation ensures that it’s all about
what’s good for kids. It also makes AYSO very affordable. AYSO operates in a
business manner, but volunteers ensure its “profits” are happy, healthy kids
playing a sport they can enjoy for life.
AYSO has developed special training that helps parents who
may have little or no soccer experience quickly gain the age-appropriate
knowledge and skills they need to be effective coaches and referees. It also
has unique administrative and management training. This ensures that each community
program:
•Abides by the AYSO philosophies
•Offers a great AYSO experience
•Continues to grow, offering the AYSO opportunity to more
children
It only takes a few hours to become qualified as an
introductory-level coach or referee. But if you’re not able to commit even that
much time, there are many small jobs you can help with. Even a couple of hours
each season are an important contribution to your team and Region!
Volunteer
positions
1.Head and assistant coach: No experience is required for

(if the team wants one), team photos, field monitor/snack shack workers as
necessary, coach gifts. and the end-of-season party.
3.Referees: Two referees per team, only required in 10U and
older divisions. Referee classes for 10U and under are operated by Region 82.

4.Sponsor: This is a financial commitment only. It can be
shared among multiple programs if so desired.
5.Field monitors: One person from the visiting team at each
game if anything needs attention (e.g., injury, conflict), they contact a board
member to take care of it.
6.Goal setup/tear-down: Teams that play the first or last
game of the day at Pepper Tree (10U and under) must set up or tear down the
goals for their field. It only takes a couple of people and can be done in
about 5 minutes.
7.Field striping: Teams that play the first game of the day
must help re-stripe the field using the supplied equipment. This job is
conducted every Friday before Saturdays games.
8.Board members: Board members are responsible for the
overall guidance of the region. From time to time, we will have open positions,
but even if we don't have anything listed, we can always find something!

positions, please contact the Region at [email protected]
Everyone needs a background check and live scan for any positions. Board members, coaches, referees, and team parents must all complete their job specific training, Safe Haven online certification course as well as the California mandated training's. Coaches and referees are also required to
take the CDC Concussion Awareness online course. The concussion course is
recommended, but not required, for team parents. Online courses are available
at the AYSO EtrainU. Other jobs do not require any registration or
online training, just a willingness to help.
We know your time is valuable, and that there’s hardly ever
enough “spare” time to volunteer everywhere you’re needed… the children of our community appreciate all you can do to help them enjoy the beautiful game of soccer.
Thank you
From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you for contributing
to the success of Santa Paula AYSO!
